Designing Logos for BrandBucket

How does it work

We welcome talented graphic designers to join our community. Once you have applied and approved, you can pick from a selection of names to design a cool logo.
Once you design the logo and upload it to BrandBucket, we review it, and if it's approved, an award will be added to your account as a payout.

Who owns the logo?

By uploading the logo, you agree to sell your design and all its rights to BrandBucket so that BrandBucket will own the logo.

What are the logo awards?

The award for each logo is based on the domain's suggested price:

Domains above $50,000 = $6
Domains from $10,000 to $50,000 = $5
Domains from $5,000 to $10,000 = $4
Domains from $3,500 to $5,000 = $3
Domains from $2,000 to $3,500 = $2
Domains below $2,000 = $1

How do I get paid?

We send payments via PayPal, Payoneer or BitPay. Connect your BrandBucket account to your PayPal account from your Account page, and you can request a payout when your balance reaches $50.

What are the different access levels?

We aim to reward our exceptional designers while ensuring everyone gets a fair shot at advancing so top-level designers will have perks over others.

Level 5 Designers: Exclusive access to all available logo reservations for the first 6 hours.
Level 5 & 4 Designers: Access from hours 7-12.
Level 5, 4, & 3 Designers: Access from hours 13-16.
Level 5, 4, 3, & 2 Designers: Access from hours 17-20.
All Designers: Unrestricted access starting from the 21st hour onward.
All Designers: Reserve one logo at a time.

How do you handle custom logo design requests?

If a domain name buyer requests modifications to the logo you designed, we will provide them with your contact details, and you can negotiate the terms and costs of your custom work with them directly.

How do I begin designing logos for BrandBucket?

First, you will need to reserve a name.

Reserving names

  1. Login to your account.
  2. Once logged in, click "Reserve Logo" under the Logos tab.
  3. Browse the list of available names and choose a name that inspires you.
  4. Click on the "Reserve" button next to the name.
  5. Start designing.

Time allowance

You have 48 hours to design the logo after picking a name. We understand some may believe this deadline is tight, but our domain sellers appreciate us being swift yet creative. We recommend only reserving a domain name once you are ready to design. If you miss the deadline, it is placed for other designers to choose from, and you may not be able to pick it up again.

Uploading a logo

  1. First, make sure the logo follows the guidelines below.
  2. Login to your account.
  3. Click "To Do" under the Logos tab.
  4. You will see your list of reserved domains there.
  5. Click on "Upload Logo Design." You will be asked to submit the following:
  6. A preview image of 640x640 pixels with a transparent background in .png format.
  7. A thumbnail image of 360x200 pixels with a transparent background in .png format.
  8. The logo source file (Illustrator or Photoshop only).
  9. Confirm by clicking "Upload."

Why do I have to upload the original files?

When uploading logo designs, you agree to sell this logo to BrandBucket for the advertised award, and we require you to include the source files.

What to consider when designing a logo for BrandBucket

Applicability

This is the most critical part of the design process. Since the names do not have a client, read the name description, use cases, and keywords. Design for inspiration and do not confine the design to one industry or use case. Highlight the feel of the name with slight hints of potential use. Colors and font selection are critical.

Easy to read

The name should be viable and readable; nonsymbolic, negative space should be used carefully as it sometimes might hinder readability. Simple, straightforward, minimal, and modern font selection is vital. If the name comprises two words, using different but complementary colors to highlight the two-word concatenation is encouraged, and darker font colors work best for readability. Avoid adding the ".com" or any trademark symbols.

Simple design

Adding a design element to a name is encouraged, but only if it will not distract from the actual readability of the word. Design elements can restrict the usability of a name, so select your design elements carefully and do not stick to an industry or vertical. Instead, use symbols to excite the creative aspect of the name and the inspirational side of the design.

Presentation

Use enough white space (transparent) around your logo when cropping both images you will be providing. We ask for a minimum of an 80px white transparent space border. Use a transparent background: avoid beveling, gradation, borders, crop marks, or shadows. Be careful with long names as the font might get smaller, and a selection of a condensed font, in that case, is encouraged to maintain height.
